Located at 423 Elmwood Avenue. Our Black‑owned family business has been nourishing the Buffalo community for 15+ years with soulful flavors, warm hospitality, and unforgettable meals.

Our Story

Founder Ms. Country made Buffalo her home during her collegiate years and began serving the Fruit Belt community with a passion for Southern cooking that quickly became a local favorite. Her signature Southern-fried chicken and classic soul food sides have earned love throughout the neighborhood—and across the city.

A vital part of this journey is Jeffery Reese, Ms. Country’s husband and steadfast supporter. Jeffery believed in the vision from the very beginning and helped make our Elmwood Avenue home a reality—setting the foundation that allowed A Taste of Soul "The Hashery" to grow, thrive, and serve the community with pride.

Beyond our brick-and-mortar location, A Taste of Soul Food Truck has brought our flavors to festivals, carnivals, special events, and catered celebrations, sharing our food with new faces wherever we go.

Ms. Country & Jeff's bold, joyful personality and commitment to quality have helped build a loyal Soul family of 700 + returning guests from near and far—including Rochester, Niagara Falls, New York City, Charlotte (NC), Ohio, Canada, and Denver (CO).
